Microsoft's Xbox Entertainment Studios has partnered with UK broadcaster Channel 4 to co-produce a "bold new drama" called Humans. The eight-episode series will be produced by the award-winning UK production company, Kudos, and will premiere on both Xbox in North America and Channel 4 in the UK in 2015. Casting for the show begins in May 2014 with production commencing later this summer.
Here's a brief description of the show's plot:
Humans is set in a parallel present where the latest must-have gadget for any busy family is a 'Synth' – a highly-developed robotic servant eerily similar to its live counterpart. In the hope of transforming the way they live, one strained suburban family purchases a refurbished synth only to discover that sharing life with a machine has far-reaching and chilling consequences.
Humans is just the latest series in Microsoft's growing portfolio of original programming for Xbox LIVE. Other projects include a Halo television series executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Every Street United, an unscripted series about the globally significant sport of street soccer, a tech-focused documentary series by award-winning producers Simon and Jonathan Chinn, the live event Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, and a Halo digital feature project executive produced by Ridley Scott and David Zucker.
