Xbox Entertainment Studios shutdown has ‘not impacted’ Quantum Break

Microsoft's plan to close Xbox Entertainment Studios, a division of the company tasked with creating original television programming for their game consoles, has not impacted the development of Remedy Entertainment's live action TV show-video game hybrid, Quantum Break.

According to a Microsoft spokesperson, Quantum Break "will be released next year and the game and show both remain on track."

"The news of Xbox Entertainment Studios has not impacted our prgoress and we're excited to share more details of Quantum Break at Gamescom in August."

Microsoft confirmed plans to shut down Xbox Entertainment Studios as part of company-wide layoffs in which up to 18,000 positions will be eliminated over the next year. Other original programming projects already in production at XES, like halo: Nightfall and the Halo television series, will continue as planned.
