Xbox Music announced by Microsoft

Microsoft announced Xbox Music during their E3 press conference on Monday. The announcement came as one of many new features coming to the Xbox 360. Although many question whether or not this will be the end of Zune Music, Zune seems to be saying that it's simply flying under another flag.

On the Zune website they explain, "The Zune music and video service has been a key component of Microsoft’s entertainment offering. We’re using our expertise from Zune to launch a brand-new music service under the Xbox Music brand." In another statement on the website, they say that anyone that had a previous subscription to Zune Music will continue to enjoy the service, simply through Xbox Music.

Xbox Music will contain a library of 30 million tracks and will not only be available on the Xbox 360 but also on Windows Phones, Windows 8 PCs, and Tablets. A "Smart DJ" will be available to users to help them discover new music by creating playlists centered around their favorite artists. Xbox Music is also said to be socially friendly, allowing you to see what your friends are listening to. Apparently you no longer need to physically share your music with friends — you can just stalk that information out of them!

The release date of Xbox Music has yet to be announced but has been hinted for fall.
