Hang on to those Xbox 360 headsets, folks. Microsoft has confirmed that current Xbox 360 headsets will work with the Xbox One, but you'll need to have a special adapter that is sold separately from the system.
Currently, the Xbox One does not include a headset, as Microsoft deems the Kinect worthy enough for your chat needs. For those who prefer not to have the loud-mouthed internet trolls blast through your television speakers, you can purchase the official Xbox One headset for $24.99.
Now we've learned of another way to talk over Xbox LIVE, as Microsoft's senior director of product management and planning Albert Panello has confirmed the company will offer an adapter to allow current gaming headsets to work.
"Yes. We will have an adapter that allows current gaming headsets to work," Penello tweeted. "No [it won't be included with the console,] it's an accessory."
Panello didn't comment as to whether or not this accessory would be available at the launch of the system, nor did he say for how much. I'm assuming it will be a cheaper alternative, otherwise why not just by the official headset?
Yesterday, Penello also confirmed that Microsoft is "looking into" the possibility of bundling a headset with the Xbox One, but offered no other details. Comparatively, the PlayStation 4 includes a mono earbud with each system and supports your PS3 wireless headset.
