Over the past year or so, we have seen tons of Xbox 360 games become accessible on the Xbox One thanks to the backward compatibility program. At the moment there are 309 backward compatible games on the Xbox One and while we aren't getting any more backward compatible games this year, 2017 is already looking good (according to Xbox head Phil Spencer).
With 309 games available, how much of the Xbox 360's library has been ported to the Xbox One in a little over a year?
Redditor, TheKoolestKid11, sat down and crunched the numbers earlier this month. To their surprise, they discovered that 20% of the Xbox 360's library was made available to Xbox One users in just a little over a year of the feature going live.
Here's the number crunching in their own words:
"It has been a little over a year since BC was started for the Xbox One. According to Microsoft's official xbox.uservoice.com survey page, there were 1,722 titles they initially considered could be brought into the program. However, 160 of these could physically not be done due to requiring hardware not compatible with the Xbox one.
"With the potential number down to 1562 titles, we next see that there are currently 308 Xbox 360 games playable on Xbox One. Given that almost 20% of the systems library was available in the span of a year, it will take about 4 more years for every game available at the time of writing this to hit the system.
"Another interesting piece of information is that only 51% of original xbox games were playable on the 360, so if the Xbox One BC team works for another year and a half they could potentially pass that systems BC rate."
Microsoft is certainly moving along with making these games available! What games are you still waiting for?
