Microsoft took to Gamescom 2015 with tons of announcements for Xbox One fans; in fact, their line up was almost as strong as their E3 2015 line up. Head of Xbox Platform Engineering, Mike Ybarra took to the stage to reveal an upcoming feature for the Xbox One.
The Xbox One is getting full featured DVR functionality that will work with the Free-to-are HD television feature that was released last year. You can record live free-to-air TV in the background while watching other shows or playing a game without impacting your experience and with Instant On you can record shows whether you're home or not.
The Xbox App on Windows 10 will allow you to watch any of your recorded shows on any Windows 10 device in your home (tablet, laptop or phone). On top of that, you can download your recordings to your device and watch your shows on-the-go without any internet connection.
The DVR feature will work with over-the-air programming for cord-cutters, and will be a subscription-free service. It's launching in 2016.
