With the holidays coming to a close, so too must one of the more attractive discounts offered throughout the season. Microsoft's $50 holiday price cut on the Xbox One comes to an end this Friday, January 3, making this the final week you can purchase the new(ish) console for $349.
There's still some time though, and most major national retailers in the U.S., including Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop, are offering exclusive online-only deals. Below is a list at some of the last chance offers to get your hands on a discounted Xbox One before the promotion ends.
- Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop and Target: $50 off Xbox One Assassin’s Creed Unity Bundle or Xbox One Assassin’s Creed Unity Bundle with Kinect, plus a free $50 gift card
- Toys 'R Us: $50 off Xbox One Assassin’s Creed Unity Bundle or Xbox One Assassin’s Creed Unity Bundle with Kinect, plus a free Xbox One controller
- Meijer: $50 off Xbox One Assassin’s Creed Unity Bundle or Xbox One Assassin’s Creed Unity Bundle with Kinect, plus a free Xbox One game of your choice
- Newegg: $50 off Xbox One Assassin’s Creed Unity Bundle or Xbox One Assassin’s Creed Unity Bundle with Kinect, plus a free 12-month Xbox Live Gold subscription and a $20 Newegg gift card
Microsoft implemented the temporary holiday discount in November, and saw sales "skyrocket" as a result. Not only did the promotion knock down the price of the standalone console, but also applied to holiday bundles like the Xbox One Assassin’s Creed Unity Bundle and Xbox One Assassin’s Creed Unity Bundle with Kinect. The result were some pretty impressive deals that ultimately led to the Xbox One outselling the PS4 in November, the first time ever since both consoles launched in November 2013.
It's sad to see such an attractive offer come to an end, but I'm sure it won't be long until we see some other kind of deal. After all, Microsoft has been pretty generous with the discounts thus far and technology only gets cheaper with age.
