Earlier today, The NPD Group revealed that Microsoft had won the sales contest in July. The Xbox One officially outsold the PlayStation 4 during July, a month before the new and improved Xbox One released. With the release of the Xbox One S earlier this month, Microsoft has already begun seeing increases in sales for July.
The 2TB Xbox One S has sold out in most regions and likely won't be back in stock, instead, the 500GB and 1TB versions will be sold. This increase in sales has driven up Xbox sales by more than 75% in the UK alone, according to MCV (via VideoGamer).
"We're excited by the reaction from fans for the Xbox One S," a Microsoft spokesperson told VideoGamer.com. "While stock of the 2TB has sold out, gamers can pre-order the Xbox One S 2TB Gears of War Limited Edition console. We will be sharing further details on other Xbox One S bundles and variations in the coming weeks."
Whether or not sales will continue to pick up for August is unknown. It will be interesting to see how Sony fares in sales after the PlayStation 4 'Neo' is revealed in September. Microsoft's sales peaked before the Xbox One S hit the market and has continued the trend post-release, Sony would be lucky to see the same reaction.
