Chances are by now you've seen the first trailer for The Last Jedi, and if you were paying close attention, you might have noticed something different about Vader fanboy, Kylo Ren. The scar that Rey gave him at the end of The Force Awakens is not quite as…pronounced in The Last Jedi.
If you don't remember, here's what that looked like:
Yep, a lot is definitely different there, namely the location of the scar and the fact that it doesn't run up and down his entire face. Well, as it turns out fans have taken notice, and one of them reached out to The Last Jedi's Director Rian Johnson, who didn't even bother to lie. He thought the old scar was "goofy," so they changed it.
Here's that tweet:
@origonalname113 @mutlubulutlar @StarWarsNewsNet @TheLastKylo It was my decision to slightly adjust it, and that was my justification. It honestly looked goofy running straight up the bridge of his nose

So there you have it; it's a case of a different director inputting their own creative differences. The new scar is more reminiscent of the subtly of Anakin Skywalker's scar from Revenge of the Sith, and yeah if they chose to keep the scar prominent, we'd all have a tough time not looking at it.
Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi will release on December 15th, 2017.
