You’ll never believe what iconic character is returning in Jurassic World

One of the most iconic characters from Steven Spielberg's original Jurassic Park will be returning in Universal Pictures upcoming sequel, Jurassic World. And no, sadly I'm not talking about Ian Malcolm, as made famous by Jeff Goldblum.

You may recall in last week's "Official Global Trailer" for Jurassic World, a brief sequence that referenced a certain major character from the first film. I'll give you a hint, there's a goat involved.

Okay, it's the Tyrannosaurus Rex. But not just any T. rex.

According to director Colin Trevorrow, the T. rex in Jurassic World is the same one from the original Jurassic Park. "She is 22 years old," Trevorrow said of the iconic dinosaur which made its big screen debut back in 1993. "But she's not limping around."

Trevorrow said audiences should recognize it's the same one from the original since they took the original design, but acknowledges that "technology has changed" over the past 22 years.

"So, it’s going to move a little bit differently, but it’ll move differently because it’s older. And we’re giving her some scars and we’re tightening her skin," he said. You may remember the T. rex got into a scrum with a pack of raptors at the end of the original film. "So, she has that feeling of, like, an older Burt Lancaster. And this movie is her Unforgiven."

As a fan of the original film, I think it's absolutely amazing that they've decided to bring the T. rex back. It does make sense, after all, seeing as how it was recently revealed that Jurassic World is a direct sequel to Jurassic Park.
