Nintendo has given the latest details on the first DLC pack for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The DLC releases this summer and is the first of many DLC in the available DLC pack. It adds new content, including a new challenge called Trial of the Sword, a Hero's Path Mode, and a harder difficulty. It also adds new armor and items. Each piece is detailed below.
Trial of the Sword
Traveling to a certain sacred, spoiler-filled location, allows you to take on the "Trial of the Sword" challenge. Face hordes of enemies wave after wave. You start the challenge with no weapons or equipment.
When all enemies are defeated, Link moves to the next room. There is about 45 rooms total. Completing this awakens the true power of the Master Sword.
Hero's Path Mode
This map feature shows where Link has walked through Hyrule in the past 200 hours of gameplay. A time tracker bar can be used to see where you spent the most time, but also show where you haven't yet explored.
Hard Mode
Hard Mode provides a greater challenge for seasoned players. Enemies regain health mid-battle and all enemies are their powered up versions. For example, Red Bokoblins are now blue.
Their maximum levels have also been increased. To test your real strength, Hard Mode is there for an extra challenge.
Travel Medallion
The Travel Medallion is one of the new items available. Found in a chest, the Travel Medallion lets you register your current location as a fast travel point on the map. Be careful though, it seems to be one-use only.
Armor
There are a number of new armor pieces coming in this DLC. 8 have been announced, which include armor themed after previous Legend of Zelda titles. Take a look at all the armor on the next page.
Today is also the day Breath of the Wild was updated to 1.2.0. It added multi-language support to the game.
