It’s hard to figure out where the PS Vita fits in among other gaming devices. As of now, there’s a huge lack of big titles coming to Sony’s handheld in 2015, with zero AAA announced. It’s mostly ports and indie games. If that’s what the PS Vita is going to be, that’s fine and I actually welcome that. Sony just needs to come out and say that, admitting that they couldn’t live up to the hype of the Vita.
Without a lot of exciting exclusives coming to the Vita, we couldn’t exactly make a list of those games. So here are some other games and ports coming to the Vita that are notable and worth hanging onto your Vita for.
Games coming to PS Vita announced at PlayStation Experience
The Third Party Production team announced at the PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas some new titles for the Vita. While you might own it on another platform, these are some great games to add to the PS Vita library. The games announced are Super Time Force Ultra; Towerfall: Ascension; The Banner Saga; Octodad: Dadliest Catch; Broken Age; Resident Evil Revelations 2; Darkest Dungeon; and Suikoden I & II.
Criminal Girls: Invite Only
Sooooooo this one isn’t going to be for everyone. Criminal Girls: Invite Only is a JRPG coming over to North America and Europe. Invite Only is a remastered version of the Japan-only PSP title Criminal Girls, but with new content. There are young-looking girls and touch controls for you to guide them. I won’t say what kind of touching. Again, this isn’t for everyone, and the game will probably be more censored than its Japan counterpart.
EarthNight
One of the Vita games we are more excited for, EarthNight is described by Cleaversoft as the “deepest runner game you will ever play.” After dragons take over the Earth and human society is forced into outer space, it’s up to Sydney and Stanley to skydive back to earth and set things right. It’s a rogue-like runner with hand-painted visuals and from what I’ve heard a really awesome soundtrack.
Tokyo Twilight Ghosthunters
An intriguing romance-adventure visual novel, Tokyo Twilight Ghosthunters has some board game mechanics and battles that have you set traps to capture ghosts. There’s also a mechanic where you have to choose an emotion and one of your five senses in conversations to tell the person how you feel.
Grim Fandango & Day of the Tentacle
Tim Schafer, Doublefine and Disney are bringing the classic LucasArts adventure game Grim Fandango to the PS4 and PS Vita, and we’re beyond excited for that. Even more, Double Fine and Sony are bringing another LucasArts adventure Day of the Tentacle: Special Edition to PS4 and PS Vita. We can’t wait to get our 1993 Mac OS and DOS gaming on.
