Admittedly, I'm not the biggest Batman fan. I appreciate the character for what he is, and sure, I think his costume is pretty cool, I guess. But despite my lackluster appreciation for the character and his line of media, I actually loved the hell out of Batman: Arkham Knight.
What stole the show was the gameplay, the fluidity, and how goddamn gorgeous that game was. Seriously, this could have starred a completely original character, and I probably still would have loved it just as much, considering how fantastic the gameplay was.
But being Batman was just the cherry on top of this already fantastic game. Stalking your enemies felt great, the Batmobile was a fun addition, the combat mechanics were perfected, and the story itself was actually pretty entertaining. I'm sure that goes double for anyone not familiar with any of the Batman comics, as the Arkham Knight reveal might have been more a surprise that way.
The new dual takedown system in Arkham Knight added yet another layer to combat, albeit not a complicated one. Players, with a press of a button, Batman could team up with one of his allies, to take down an enemy with a flashy finisher. It was oh-so satisfying.
If you're a PC player, well, you either enjoyed the game for what a broken mess it was, or got your money back. Man, what a letdown.
