Map #14 Yemen
Buildings, buildings everywhere!! In Yemen you cannot walk five feet without running into a building someone could be hiding in. The buildings are Yemen’s biggest downfall and the main deterrent for wanting to play this map.
When looking at the map above, you can see the many squares representing houses, buildings and stores. As you can see, the map is cluttered with building upon building and not exactly a lot of free space to run around in. This might be perfect for assault rifle and sniper rifle players, but for SMG and shotgun players it’s not a good thing.
Yemen also lacks any sort of balance as it’s the only map I can remember that’s played in only one fashion. There are some narrow streets and walkways, but the majority is building-to-building sniping. It’s easy to die without seeing your killer unless you look into every window and alleyway. This creates very tedious gameplay that Black Ops 2 should be without. Yemen is lacking a lot of key ingrediants for a fun multiplayer map including freedom to choose how to play.
Weapon Recommendation
Any combination of Sniper Rifle or Assault Rifle works fine for Yemen since you’ll literally be in a multileveled building most of the game. I went with thy Type 25 with the millimeter scanner this time so you can see when people are camping in buildings when you’re close by. The millimeter scanner will show enemies in a ghost-like glow if they’re not moving which is perfect for enemies in buildings. The fore grip will give you better accuracy for long distances and the Suppressor will make sure you’re not spotted on the mini-map. You can also use any of the various Sniper Rifles for optimum long distance shooting which is highly effective as well.
Pick 10
Primary – Type 25
————Attachments – Millimeter Scanner, Fore Grip, Suppressor
Secondary – None
Perk 1 – Hardline
Perk 2 – Cold Blooded
Perk 3 – Dead Silence
Lethal – Grenade
Tactical – Shock Charge
Wildcard – Primary Gunfighter
Scorestreaks
The best Scorestreaks for Yemen are:
UAV – Find out what buildings enemies are hiding in
Sentry Gun – Throw the sentry gun down in front of a crowded building
Lightning Strike – Pick three buildings to bomb
Hunter Killer – Throw this up into the air for a free kill
Overall Thoughts
Yemen is one of the weaker maps in Black Ops 2 as it relies solely on shooting enemies inside buildings and through windows. You’re limited to playing the way the map wants you to and not the other way around. That’s the biggest issue I have with Yemen as I don’t want to be forced into playing building vs. building and that’s exactly what happens.
