Looking for a new indie title to play? Are you perhaps hoping to save some cash on a sweet bundle? Or maybe you'd rather just get excited about upcoming projects that are currently in the works. If you're an indie game aficionado, you've come to the right spot. This time on the Indie Roundup we've got new releases, demos, and Kickstarter projects. If you're a fan of Earthworm Jim, we've got something worth being totally stoked about. But that's enough teasing. Let's talk indie games!
Armikrog is a claymation adventure game from the makers of Earthworm Jim
Doug TenNapel, Mike Dietz, and Ed Schofield have taken to Kickstarter to obtain funds for their upcoming project Armikrog. The game will feature point-and-click adventure gameplay and stop-motion claymation graphics. The trio previously worked on Earthworm Jim and The Neverhood, and Dietz and Schofield eventually formed Pencil Test Studios. In addition to the dev team, several awesome people will provide voice work for Armikrog. Jon Heder (Napolean Dynamite), Rob Paulsen (Pinky and the Brain, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and Veronica Belmont (Tekzilla) are just three of the individuals on board for the project.
If you're a fan of Earthworm Jim, The Neverhood, adventure games, or rad claymation, check out Armikrog on Kickstarter.
Crypt of the NecroDancer is one part rhythm, one part roguelike, one billion parts crazy
Brace Yourself Games may very well be working on the next big roguelike. Crypt of the NecroDancer combines rhythm gameplay with roguelike and dungeon crawling elements to create a wacky amalgamation of styles that's just giggle-worthy. Seriously, watch the trailer for this game and look at the characters dancing all over the place and shooting each other with arrows. In addition to the original soundtrack, which includes work from Danny Baranowsky, you'll be able to use your own music library. You want to talk about the next generation of consoles? Crypt of the NecroDancer is, like, the next generation of roguelikes. Keep a lookout for this game.
Dust: An Elysian Tail out now on Steam
If you missed Dust: An Elysian Tail when it launched last year on Xbox Live Arcade, you can now redeem yourself by playing the game on Steam. The 2D action-RPG landed on the digital download shop a few days ago, becoming accessible to an even wider audience. Just look at how pretty that game looks! Seriously, go play it! I'll play it, too, if you want!
You can purchase Dust: An Elysian Tail on Steam for $13.49 for a limited time before it gets a slightly more expensive $14.99 price tag.
Gunpoint due out next week, but you should check out the demo now
According to Suspicious Developments, Gunpoint is “a game about rewiring things and punching people.” That's an amazingly convincing sales pitch if I ever heard one. The title is a 2D experience that requires you to enter buildings and hack computers and security systems to progress. Oh, you can also tackle security guards and send them flying out windows.
Gunpoint launches next week, but you can play the demo right now.
The Humble Indie Bundle 8 is loaded with awesomeness
The latest Humble Indie Bundle has arrived, and it includes a number of stellar titles. Little Inferno, Awesomenauts, Capsized, Thomas Was Alone, and Dear Esther can all be yours for whatever price you want to pay. That said, beating the average payment will also score you downloads of Hotline Miami and Proteus. If you want a bunch of rad indie games for cheap, this is a pretty sweet deal.
Snag the Humble Indie Bundle 8 before the sale ends in under two weeks.
The Night of the Rabbit tosses you into a fantasy land filled with adventure
Daedalic Entertainment has released The Night of the Rabbit, an adventure game set in a magical fairytale land. Great art, dark twists, and memorable characters await. If you're a fan of adventure games, you may want to check this one out. Also, can someone turn this into a storybook? That would be kind of cool.
The Night of the Rabbit is available now on Steam and GOG.com for $19.99.
