Dr. David’s Indie Roundup: AVGN Adventures, IndieGameStand, Lone Survivor, and Treasurenauts

Sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever run out of things to report here on the Indie Roundup. But then I immediately think otherwise, as I’m pretty sure that’s likely to never happen. There just never seems to be a slow news week as far as indie games are concerned. This week, for example, we’ve got some new releases to report on, as well as an upcoming game to take a look at, and a sweet new feature introduced to an online indie game store.

Alrighty then, let’s talk indie games!

Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures out now

If you’re a fan of the Angry Video Game Nerd, you may want to get your hands on Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures. Our review of the game will be up on the site soon, but if you’re contemplating whether you should download this game, I’d recommend giving it a go. It’s super challenging and ridiculously frustrating, but it’s also hilarious and entertaining. Don’t worry; it’s not hideously bad like the games the Nerd plays in real life.

You can purchase AVGN Adventures on Steam for $14.99.

IndieGameStand opens store, makes past titles available for purchase

Up until now, IndieGameStand has been known for selling a different game every four days at an appetizing pay-what-you-want price. While the site will continue this practice, it’s also opened up a more traditional online storefront. Now you can purchase past IndieGameStand titles via the new “Game Store” tab, which splits the profits between the devs and IndieGameStand. You can snag games like Escape Goat, Elliot Quest, and more right from the main page. Oh, and currently on sale for as little as $1 is the indie gem Proteus.

Check out the new IndieGameStand store and do a little shopping.

Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut infects PSN

Lone Survivor can definitely be considered one of the best survival horror games of the past decade due to its haunting setting, disturbing sound, and scary situations. That’s why it’s so great that the game is no longer relegated to Steam and is now available on the PlayStation Network. Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut is available now, featuring Cross-Buy/Cross-Play functionality across the PlayStation 3 and Vita and all of the frights of the original. If you’ve yet to play it, now would be the time to do so. And hell, even if you already played Lone Survivor before, it’s definitely worth checking out again.

You can get Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut on the PlayStation Network for $12.99 ($11.69 if you’re a Plus subscriber.)

Mutant Mudds dev hoping to launch Treasurenauts in December

Developer Renegade Kid recently announced that its upcoming 2D platformer Treasurenauts was seeing a December launch window on the 3DS eShop. That’s great news considering the studio was previously responsible for the wonderful Mutant Mudds. Treasurenauts is a pixelated platforming adventure that revolves around collecting, that’s right, treasure. The game has a charming, colorful look to it that’s reminiscent of Mutant Mudds. As reported on Destructoid, if you’re in the LA or OC areas when IndieCade rolls by in just over a week, you’ll be able to check out the game firsthand.

If you own a 3DS, be sure to watch out for Treasurenauts in a couple of months.
