E3: Logitech To Release PlayGear Products For PSP

Logitech To Release Award-Winning PlayGear Family of Products for PSP; Powerful Headphones, Versatile Carrying Case, and Protective Screen Cover for PSP All Coming.

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–May 17, 2005–Today at the E3 Electronic Entertainment Exposition, Logitech (NASDAQ:LOGI)(SWX:LOGN) extended its PlayGear family of must-have products for the PSP(TM) (PlayStation(R) Portable) handheld entertainment system. The company unveiled a powerful and stylish set of stereo headphones, a hands-free carrying case for maximum mobility and protection, and a transparent faceplate that protects the PSP screen from damage and blemishes.

Logitech’s award-winning peripheral designs complement many platforms, from PCs, to game consoles, to home-entertainment systems, to mobile phones. The Logitech(R) PlayGear family of products echoes the PSP’s stylish appearance, enhances its functionality, and helps protect gamers’ investments.

“Each product in our PlayGear family has been developed to improve every aspect of use and the overall ownership experience of the PSP — whether it’s with our state-of-the-art audio technology, our stylized protective armor, or an easier way to carry the device,” said Ruben Mookerjee, Logitech’s director of product marketing for interactive entertainment. “We use only the best materials and technology. The PSP is a beautiful and powerful device, and we have taken great care in designing even the most minute details in our products to ensure they are completely complementary, both aesthetically and functionally.”

The Logitech PlayGear Mod headphones

The Logitech(R) PlayGear Mod(TM) headphones deliver a powerful audio experience and a comfortable fit, while sporting an ultra-cool, behind-the-head design. The headphones feature 30 mm neodymium drivers that deliver crisp, rich audio with superior bass. The headphones, which weigh only 1.7 ounces, feature unique comfort rings. Made of a soft, gel-like substance, these removable rings rest securely over the ear to make sure the headphones stay in place, even for the most active user.

With a glossy black headband, blackened chrome ear covers and a clear cable, the Logitech PlayGear Mod headphones match the sleek styling of the PSP. The headband and earpieces are made of a polycarbonate material, making the headphones extremely durable and weather resistent. The Logitech PlayGear Mod headphones will be available in the U.S. for a suggested retail price of $29.99 beginning in July. They will also be available in Europe and Japan beginning in July.

The Logitech PlayGear Street Carrying Case

The versatile Logitech(R) PlayGear Street(TM) carrying case offers hands-free protection and mobility for the PSP. Featuring a clip-on strap, the protective case can be worn across the chest like a messenger bag or it can simply hang over a single shoulder like a camera bag. With the included carabiner, the case can also be clipped directly to a backpack, a piece of luggage, or even a belt loop. To protect the device when the PSP user is on the go, the PlayGear Street carrying case features a mechanical latch that locks when in the closed position. The polycarbonate top shell provides strong protection for the PSP, while the custom-designed interior provides an exacting fit so the device is secure when its owner is on the move.

The Logitech PlayGear Street case features slots that hold up to three Universal Media Discs (UMD) and four memory sticks, so owners can bring their games, movies and music with them. It also provides access to the headphone port through the back of the case, even when closed — perfect for listening to music on the go. The Logitech PlayGear Street carrying case will be available in the U.S. beginning in July for a suggested retail price of $29.99. It will be available in Europe and Japan beginning in late July.

The Logitech PlayGear Visor Protective Screen Cover

The Logitech(R) PlayGear Visor(TM) protective screen cover prevents scratches and fingerprints from tainting the PSP screen, while still allowing the game system to fit into the softcase that comes with the PSP Value Pack. The clear polycarbonate hardcover overlays the screen, allowing complete access to all game controls, system keys and ports, so gamers can play their PSP and protect it at the same time. The cover securely clips to the PSP device with no tools required, making it perfect for long-term protection while also being easy to remove. The PlayGear Visor protective screen cover will be available for a suggested retail price of $9.99 in the U.S. by the end of July. The screen cover will also be available in Europe and Japan beginning in July.
