Gamasutra is reporting that a new school is being made by the joint effort of EA Sports (Electronic Arts subdivision) and the university of Central Florida, to train students for the gaming workforce. Last month the florida government gave $4.2 million to fund the creation of the college and will open as part of the University of Central Florida’s Arts and Sciences in late 2005.
In other news relating to Electronic Arts, on friday, EA said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission it intends to axe 117 jobs beginning of 2005. Coupled with recently shut down one studio in Texas to consolidate local development in Redwood City, CA.
