Game Charity Earns Cash for Kids

Child’s Play, a charity organization started by the creators of Penny Arcade, earned over $1,000,000 for sick children around the world at their recent event. The charity started in 2003 and set out to give toys and games to sick children. Four years later and the organization has grown into a “worldwide network of beneficiary Children’s Hospitals”.

The dinner, which was held in Seattle at $125 a plate, also featured an auction. Included in the auction were an appearance in a Penny Arcade comic, a voiceover line in Halo 3 and signed Nintendo and Microsoft Hardware all went for thousands of dollars. For more information on the charity, visit the Child’s Play website. While the charity’s success has helped many children, others have still voiced their opinion on the negative affects of video games. What ever your side, Penny Arcade’s Robert Khoo had this to say about the charity,

“The game community has just been so amazing in its support. What started as a challenge to our community has grown into something that impacts the lives of children, and that’s something we can all be proud of.”
