Game Republic Behind Toy Home, Working on 360/Wii Title

At the Tokyo Game Show last month, an upcoming downloadable title for the PS3 took some of the press by surprise. Toy Home, a racing game, was on the show floor ready to be played, but no developer was seemingly attached to it. It turns out, that this mysterious game is coming from none other than Game Republic, the studio behind Genji and Folklore, and headed by former Capcom Producer Yoshiki Okamoto.

Toy Home is set to be a download-only release (in Japan, at least, its method of distribution for other territories hasn’t been decided, yet), will feature SIXAXIS support and rumble.

Okamoto revealed this information in an interview with the Japanese game magazine, Famitsu. Outside of just PS3 titles, the studio is also looking to develop a Wii title, and says that they currently have an Xbox 360 title in development. Okamoto states that working on the Xbox 360 title is like fulfilling a dream. The Wii title they’d like to produce, Okamoto described as something you would play in short bursts of time – perhaps, 30 minute segments. He likened it to a mission-based title, or a manga where you would read one short episode a day.
