GameSpy and Nintendo: Online

The latest issue of Nintendo Power brought great new news for the Nintendo DS. Along with these great announcements came another revelation from Nintendo President and CEO Satoru Iwata: the partnership between Nintendo and GameSpy to create a wireless multiplayer network for the DS.

This service promises to be simple to set up and easy to use program available to users world-wide that have access to a hopspot. Iwata also detailed that developers currently working on local wireless play games will be able to easily expand many of their projects to include Online play.

The first DS game confirmed with Online play was Animal Crossing which was officially announced back in <a href="http://www.ds.advancedmn.com/article.php?artid=1693"GDC. With future titles subject to Online play, one can only hope that games such as Mario Kart DS and Metroid Prime: Hunters include this feature.

More information is expected to be revealed at this year’s E³.
