Gasp! LittleBigPlanet Has a Release Date!

Well, finally.

Sony Europe just sent through official word that LittleBigPlanet has a release date. And that date is Friday, October 24. Just over a month away. Seems strange that something we’ve been following so closely for so long as a “it’s coming sometime in the distant future” will actually be with us, but hey, if Spore can do it, LBP can do it too. — Kotaku

One should hope that the US release is within a relatively close timeframe.

I really have to agree with Kotaku on that last part. Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Spore, Grand Theft Auto IV, Metal Gear Solid 4, and now LittleBigPlanet. It’s as though all those titles that have been just out of reach, whose very existance has almost felt like it was based on being in development.* These titles have for so long held an almost mythical status as a sort of untouched promise of greatness… and now they’re almost all out and in our hands.

After this, what’s left? Home? What then? To what do we look forward to?

* Though not to the degree Duke Nukem Forever has.
