Fonix Speech, an operating division of Fonix Corp., will demonstrate an upgraded version of Fonix VoiceIn for cross-platform videogame developers at the 2005 Game Developers Conference (GDC), Booth 532.
Fonix VoiceIn is the voice interface software for cross-platform game developers who want to establish a significant feature differentiator by integrating voice command and control in games. Fonix’s award-winning software is available for Xbox, PlayStation 2, PC and Mac videogame developers. Fonix VoiceIn is optimized for game development where memory and processing power are at a premium.
“The improved Fonix VoiceIn gives videogame developers even easier tools with which to create cutting-edge games,” said Tim K. Hong, Fonix VP of games.
“Fonix VoiceIn allows creative game developers to imagine new ways of playing games, as well as developing games that weren’t previously possible without voice command and control. And our new neural net for children ensures an even better experience for younger players.”
Upgrades to Fonix VoiceIn include:
Grammar support: Developers can now utilize either word spotting (single word recognition) or grammars (multiple recognition in a single utterance).
Italian language support: Adding to our current support for English, French, Spanish, German and Japanese.
New developer tools:
Word confusion tool: This tool allows developers to identify words that are phonetically similar and might result in voice recognition problems.
Pronunciation adaptation tool: The first implementation of Fonix’s advancement in voice recognition technology. This tool allows developers to make voice recognition of their vocabularies even more accurate.
New neural net designed for children’s voices: Fonix has made our neural network-based technology even more accurate for younger players. This advancement is especially relevant to developers of “edutainment” titles.
