Vivendi Universal Games today announced that Radical Entertainment is hard at work on the development of Crash Tag Team Racing for the Nintendo GameCube, Microsoft Xbox, Sony PlayStation 2, and Nintendo DS. The game, which is the latest in the popular Crash Bandicoot video game series, is said to provide a unique racing experience where players can continue the action on foot without a car.
In Crash Tag Team Racing, players will be able to fuse two cards together on the fly to form a super-vehicle with “clashing” technology. When clashed, players can either get behind the wheel and drive or fire an onboard weapon. Each character has his or her own unique, deadly 360° rotating turret.
“We’re thrilled to give Crash Bandicoot fans another hilarious adventure with the irrepressible marsupial. The development team showed off its ability to create a break-out vehicle-based game with The Simpsons: Hit & Run and is set to deliver another innovative and wildly fun title in Crash Tag Team Racing,” said Ian Wilkinson, President of Radical Entertainment.
Crash Tag Team Racing will also feature Crash Bandicoot humor, written by Jordan Reicheck (Crash Twinsanity, Ren and Stimpy). The storyline of the game includes Dr. Cortex making a return to evil scheming after being defeated and humilitted by Crash Bandicoot at the end of Crash Twinsanity. Cortex’s plan: challenge Crash to a bit of “friendly competition,” with a sinister plot to crush Crash on the racetrack.
Crash Tag Team Racing will feature split-screen multiplayer for up to eight players on the GameCube, PS2, and Xbox. On the Nintendo DS, it will feature four-player wireless action. The game is due out in the fall of 2005.amos oof
