An article written over at GamerDad has been circulating the gaming community, where the author wonders what has happend to the ‘golden age’ of pc gaming and franchises he used to love to play. He goes on to place blame on the consoles, specifically the XBOX and it’s games which are shared with the PC, such as Doom III.
“But even the likes of DOOM 3, a game that certainly would’ve helped PC gaming, is now headed to Xbox too and probably soon after its PC brother releases. To add insult to injury, DOOM 3 on Xbox will contain co-operative gameplay while the PC does not. It seems like a a thinly veiled attempt to lure more PC gamers away from the platform and over to Xbox as their first choice. With that, the keyboard and mouse go away and suddenly we’re looking at more actiony games that remove all the cool combinations of strategy and role-playing that defined those older PC games we love.”
