The Seattle based charity organization, Child’s Play, founded by the creators of the popular webpage, Penny-Arcade, that their third annual online toy and game drive is currently underway. In its first few weeks, the service has generated over $200,000 and has collected numerous video games and systems for the Seattle Children’s Hospital and similar hospitals in the U.S. and Canada.
Via the charity’s webpage, individuals can purchase a variety of game systems and numerous titles to be delivered to a child in one of over twenty hospitals. “Thank you for all the toys! Child’s Play Charity is like a dream come true!” remarked Meghan D. Kelly, Director of the Child Life Program at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in Bronx, New York.
Aside from their online toy drive, the group is set to hold a Fundraiser Dinner Auction on December 13, 2005 at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, Washington. The “semi-formal” function will include numerous auctions with items such as Xbox 360 consoles, iPod nanos, and a chance to tour the development studios of Blizzard amongst others. Tickets for the dinner remain on sale and are available for purchase at $100.
