Square Enix has been working on Kingdom Hearts 3 for a while and it seems like we won't be seeing it any time soon. To keep up busy they released Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix last year and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix this year. Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix brings together high definition versions of Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded in 'Theatre Mode' (meaning it has over 3 hours of remastered cinematics from the original game and some new content).
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix made its official release in North America on December 2nd and is set to release in Europe tomorrow, with that in mind, let's take a look at Kingdom Hearts 2 and compare screenshots to Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix. Is the HD remake worth it? Let the screenshots help you decide:
We salute you and your need for screenshot comparisons! As you can tell the image is much, much more defined.
A heavyness under the eyes that wasn't previously there and his beard goes from undefined ramen noodles to full on defined ramen crinkliness.
In this image you'd expect the water to be a little more showcased (we are already expecting more defined characters), but while it's not showcased you can see it's more detailed.
The HD remake left no scene unturned. Whether it's escaping prison with Stitch or the entire game, they did it all.
Roxas eyes go from dark creepy pits of eternal sadness to thoughtful, bored and maybe a little sad (but Keanu Reeves sitting on a bench sad). You cannot deny how much better the game looks in HD!
