At first glance, the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita were a little light on quality exclusives. But at second glance, you’d realize that your first glance was correct. It hasn’t been that strong of a year for PlayStation exclusives. That said, the few that there are really shine.
While we have a ton of awesome PlayStation 4 exclusives to look forward to in 2015, here were the best ones of 2014!
MLB 14: The Show
While we didn’t love the Vita version, MLB 14: The Show’s grand debut on the PlayStation 4 earned it a 9. While there are some hiccups here and there, it’s the best game available on the market and a must-purchase for baseball fans. It’s also the last chance players have to use Derek Jeter in-game.
Transistor
Transistor is a great follow-up to Bastion by developer Supergiant. While it's also on PC, it is a console exclusive for the PS4. It’s memorable, and is an artful take on a sci-fi RPG that’s hard to match. The combat is deep and hard to master, but has plenty of customization to make it fit your playstyle. The visuals are breathtaking, and the soundtrack is among the best you’ll ever hear. That’s why we gave it a 9.
Resogun: Heroes
Resogun: Heroes is an affordable update that makes one of the PS4’s best games even better. It’s a great excuse to revisit the title for hours upon hours of enjoyment with new game modes and trophies.
LittleBigPlanet 3
While it has received mixed reviews, but it’s hard to deny the appeal of Sackboy, and newcomers OddSock, Toggle and Swoop. The game has plenty of complaints, but its creation toolkit is deep and diverse and full of option.
The Last of Us Remastered
Whether you played The Last of Us on the PS3 or not, you definitely have to get it on the PlayStation 4. Remastered is a must-play for any PlayStation owner and only improves upon what made you fall in love with the original. It also includes all of the previously released DLC, so the total package earns a 9.
Danganronpa 1 and 2
Both Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair are loved by most PS Vita owners. Danganronpa has quirky humor, excellent writing and interesting characters. The plot is quite serious and dark, but that makes it quite a unique adventure. The sequel continues that vibe, making these some of the best visual novels that you could play.
Murasaki Baby
Murasaki Baby is an odd title for the PS Vita where you use almost entirely touch controls as you guide Baby and protect her through a nightmarish world. It's not going to be for everyone, but it's very atmospheric and emotional, and the art style is amazing. I connected with the game on a personal level, and scored it a 9 in our review.
