Microsoft Comments on March NPD Data

Microsoft has given their statement addressing the latest NPD sales data for the month of March.

Always looking to gain an edge on rival Sony, the company emphasized the Xbox 360’s current lead over the PlayStation 3 in total console sales, with an estimated 199,000 units sold throughout the month. Interestingly enough, the company made no mention of Nintendo, which moved 259,000 Wii consoles for the same period.

The console continues to sport a solid software attachment rate at 5.7 games sold per system. Lead titles included Def Jam Icon, Guitar Hero II, Major League Baseball 2K7 and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2. The company is expecting upcoming releases Shrek the Third, Spider-Man 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End to aid in expanding the growing library of games that appeal to a wide audience.
