More DS Support From Taito

Taito has recently announced a couple of PSP titles in the past few weeks, suggesting that the company was focusing its support on Sony’s handheld. It seems that this is not the case however, as the company today announced three new projects for the Nintendo DS, though one of them will already be familiar to those of us in North America.

The first game revealed was Hipatte!! Puzzle Bobble, a new take on the “Puzzle Bobble” series in Japan, though known better to those in the west as the Bust a Move series. The game will feature dual-screen and touch-screen support as well as wireless multiplayer for up to five players. A specific release date has been set for February 2, 2006 in Japan.

The next game unveiled is something that we here already know about in a way. The game is titled Danshaku, though it’s actually the Japanese release of a game called Nanostray that you may have heard of, which was released back in July here in North America through the publisher Majesco. The Japanese release date has been set for January 26, 2006.

The last game is a different kind of shooter. Titled Freedom Wings, the game is an arcade-style shooter where the player takes control of fighter jets through various missions using the stylus to control speed, weapons and to lock on to enemies. The game also includes some RPG elements where the pilot gains experience and levels up, which will result in the improvement of his skills, and there will also be a shop to purchase upgrades to your jet. A Japanese release date has been set for February 9, 2006.

No plans have been announced yet to bring Freedom Wings or Hipatte!! Puzzle Bobble to the US, but Advanced Media will bring you the latest news should that change. game
