In a unexpected move, MTV has aquired the rights to NeoPets. NeoPets, a popular web game that is a crosss between Tamagotchi and Pokemon has a player base of about 25 million people world wide, was sold to MTV for the price of about 160 million dollars. While this affects many people, console gamers may think what this has to do with them. NeoPets was recently expanding their brand into video games and this could leave future games up in the air. The CEO of MTV, Judy McGrath, said, “Its [NeoPets] acquisition is an important move for us as we aggressively move forward as a multi-platform entertainment company.” Leaving us with the question, what’s next for NeoPets?
