Nintendo Profits Increase Five-Fold

Nintendo today announced their first-quarter financial results beginning April 2007 and ending June 2007.

Thanks to vigorous sales of Wii and Nintendo DS hardware and software, the company saw a 416 percent rise in net income. As of June 2007, worldwide sales of the Wii reached 9.27 million while DS sales skyrocketed to 47.27 million units.

Nintendo increased its shipment forecasts for both systems, with the Wii up from 14 million to 16.5 million and the DS from 22 million to 26 million for its fiscal year ending March 31, 2008. Software expectations also saw a rise with Wii titles jumping from 55 million to 72 million and DS software up 10 million to 140 million.
