Some Pokémon are just a straight up pain to catch, they require so many actions for you to go through that it can be a little frustrating. This is especially true for the Legenday Trio, Regice, Regirock, and Registeel.
If you've been wondering how to catch these three in order to catch Regigigas, strap yourself in – it's going to be a "fun" ride.
To catch the Legendary Trio, there's no need to have completed the games campaign — you can definitely grab them before end game, but first you need to catch Relicanth and Wailord.
Here's where you can find the two:
- Relicanth: Underwater, near the 8th gym.
- Wailord: Fish up Wailmer on Route 122 using a good rod, then evolve Wailmer into Wailord. While Wailord is a rare catch you can try fishing one out on Route 129.
Once you have these two Pokémon add them to your party along with Pokémon that know the moves Dig, Surf and Dive. Once your party is set head over to Pacifidlog Town and surf to the West (heading towards Route 134) minding the currents. Your aim should be for a dark spot of water where you can use the move Dive. Once you Dive down you will find a braille inscription, read it and then resurface. After resurfacing follow the path to another inscription, at this point you want to make sure that Relicanth is the first Pokémon in your party and Wailord is the last.
When you get to the second inscription use a Pokémon that knows Dig (on the middle slate of the inscription), the wall should break and lead you into another room. The moment you touch the slate there should be an earthquake and a message stating that a door opened 'somewhere.' Now it is finally time to leave the cave and capture the Legendary Trio.
Locations of the Legendary Trio (you can only catch them once the steps above have been completed):
- Regice: Go to Dewford Town and surf North (Route 105). Hang a left when you come across a little island with trees and a guy on it, keep surfing. Eventually you will find yourself at an island with a small mountain, go in to the mountain and read the inscription. After about a minute of waiting, a door should open that will lead you to a level 40 Regice. (Nickname Regice while it is holding one of these items: CasteliaCone [obtained at Trick House], Snowball or Never-Melt Ice [found in Shoal Cave] in order to catch Regigigas later on)
- Regirock: Go to Fallarbor Town (have a Pokémon with the Strength move in your party) and head towards the desert (Route 111). In the desert you should find a fossil and a cave entrance. Go to the middle inscription and move to the right twice and down twice and use Strength. A door should open that will lead you to a level 40 Regirock.
- RegiSteel: Go west of Lilycove on Route 120 (or to the right of Fortree City) you will find a cave, with a Pokémon that has the move Fly. Enter the cave, read the inscription and use Fly to the middle of the room. You will find a level 40 Registeel.
After you have all of these Pokémon and nicknamed Regice, you are well on your way to capturing Regigigas.
