Rumor: More 360 Price Cuts to Come?

Rumor has it that Microsoft is looking to lower the price on several of their SKUs for the Xbox 360. And the last time there was such a rumor, it came true, albeit with the caveat that they were phasing that unit out anyway in favor of a new model. So the way Microsoft plays the game, this rumor could be good or bad, depending on the individual and how.

Early Sept price reduction on X360 hardware:

  • Arcade (no hard drive) to $199
  • Pro (60GB) to $299
  • Elite (120GB) to $399

We should also expect hardware and game bundles for all hardware versions coming in the fourth quarter, just in time for the holidays.

In addition, the mole revealed that the upcoming release of Forza 2 Platinum Hits will include all the DLC tracks that were made for the title, which is a good way to add value to the game. — Ben Kuchera, Ars Technica

Also, Ben says that this same source had given him early information about the 60GB unit which proved to be true, so take that as you will.
