Sonic as well as online co-op were confirmed for Smash Bros. Brawl today in a Japanese conference by Nintendo.
In the presentation, a video of Sonic transforming into Super Sonic was shown and made it very clear that he would be taking part in the brawl. Because the video of the presentation has not been released, it cannot be confirmed that Sonic will be a playable character and not an assist trophy. Either way, Sonic will be involved with the next Smash title.
The co-op mode that was announced last week will also be featured online but no other details were revealed at this time. It can be expected that friends and perhaps even random players can team up to take on the story mode in Brawl together and possibly help each other gain the rewards of playing the mode.
