According to the report, Sony Ericcson pitched a PSP phone idea to Sony in late 2008. However, Sony denied the idea and told members of the Sony Ericsson division that they will only license the use of the PlayStation brand for a phone when they’re able to develop the phone themselves. On the other side of the coin, Sony Ericsson believes that Sony will only allow to use of the PlayStation brand on a phone if the experience is substantial enough to mach a standalone PSP.
As of now, all these reports are unconfirmed. Whether a PSP phone happens or not, it’s entirely up to Sony and their, apparently, internal dispute with the Ericsson division.
