Sony Files FCC Approval for Ceramic White PS3

Here we go again. Last year Sony released a Ceramic White PS3 in Japan, but the unit has yet to see export to North America. However, information has surfaced that Sony submitted the Ceramic White model for FCC approval, hinting that the model is probably coming here. Knowing that no one in their right mind would unnecessarily deal with the bureaucrats at the FCC, we’d say it’s hard to disagree.

Of course Sony, ready to head down the same path of stubborn defiance they always do when something like this comes up, are completely denying any plans for a North American release. Same thing happened with the 40GB model before it landed on western shores.

“As you may know, there are many FCC filings like this each year. We haven’t made any announcements about upcoming PS3 plans, but are comfortable with our current two sku strategy. We are continually evaluating the market trends and consumer input to determine the appropriate PS3 models for our territory. ”
