Sony Sheds a Little Light on “PlayStation Thanks”

Yesterday, we brought news of a new trademark Sony had filed with with the United States Patent and Trademark Office called “P.S. Thanks.” Best as we can tell, it sounds like the PlayStation answer to Club Nintendo.

However, today we have new information, courtesy of PlayStation Universe: an actual comment about the Thanks trademark from Sony! It reads:

“We have a long history of creating unique loyalty programs such as PlayStation Underground, which started with the original PlayStation and has evolved into the Gamer Advisory Panel. We continue to look for ways to expand this program and we are evaluating new naming conventions for this evolution, which is why we filed a trademark for PlayStation Thanks.”

So, whatever it is they are planning exactly, PlayStation Thanks would seem to only be a possible name, not a definite one, and they may not even be sure of what it will entail yet. Still, good to know they’re working on something.
