Sony Trademarks and Patents Discovered

The patent spelunkers are at it again as they have found a few more goodies for us to speculate on. These patents come from Sony Computer Entertainment and could be future products based around either the PS3 or PSP.

First off the European division of Sony registered the names SkyBlue, Ember, Strings Attached, Carriage Return and Race Day under the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. These could potentially be future games as other products that were discovered under similar means were PlayStation Eye and PlayStation Network games Super Rub’A’Dub, Super Stardust, Operation Creature Feature and Snakeball.

The trademark Broadcasting Engine was also found under Sony’s Japanese division. The trademark refers to downloading media using different types of hardware like DVD players, set-top boxes, vending machines and yes, even video game machines.

The interesting thing to note about this one is that it may have something to do with Sony’s upcoming plans to distribute music and movies across a wide variety of Sony devices using the PlayStation Network. AMN will keep you updated on any further movements Sony may make at the patent office.
