Ivy (Soulcalibur series)
This pick was originally going to be Heihachi Mishima of Tekken fame, but that's too predictable. Plus, that dude's already in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. Besides, Ivy is certainly well-equipped to bring the fight to Smash Bros. With her deadly whip in hand and her incredible acrobatic abilities, she'd be able to take down any character on the roster, be it a hulking behemoth like Donkey Kong or a speedy brawler like Captain Falcon. Also, it'd be really intriguing to see Nintendo have some jiggle physics in one of its games.
Eggman (Sonic the Hedgehog series)
Mario and Bowser. Kirby and King Dedede. Link and Ganondorf. These epic rivalries have transcended gaming, and they've even transcended Smash Bros., with the inclusion of these awesome protagonists and their respective antagonists. If Sonic returns to the fray in the Wii U rendition of Smash Bros., it'll be great to see Eggman make his debut in the series. A technological genius, there's no doubt that Eggman would bring some heavy artillery to the game. Maybe he'd even get to finally defeat Sonic. Besides, Dedede is getting lonely being the only morbidly obese character on the roster.
The Prince (Katamari Damacy series)
Smash Bros. for Wii U needs a good underdog. It also needs a good offbeat addition to its roster. In Brawl, Olimar was that quirky newcomer. Katamary Damacy's Prince could very well take on that role in the upcoming Wii U fighter. What exactly would he do? I have no idea, but that's what makes him such an awesome character. Besides, Katamari Damacy is one of Namco Bandai's most unique franchises to come along in recent memory, so some representation in Smash Bros. would definitely be well-deserved.
Mega Man (Mega Man series)
Mega Man was at one point a staple of the Nintendo name. NES gamers everywhere cherished the series, which went on to become a beloved part of video game history. A lot of folks would love to see the Blue Bomber make a triumphant return to a Nintendo console, and a grand debut as part of the Smash Bros. roster would certainly be fitting. It's hard to think of another third-party character that deserves to be included in Smash Bros. more than Mega Man. If he does make it to the roster, we can have an epic clash between Mega Man and Samus Aran. Yup, that would be so awesome!
Travis Touchdown (No More Heroes series)
When the first No More Heroes launched on the Wii back in 2007, it provided a hilarious, bloody, and sexy M-rated experience on the Big N's shiny console. A sequel launched shortly after, and it once again delivered some much-needed violence to the platform. Because of that, No More Heroes is easily one of the most important and memorable games to come along on a Nintendo platform, and its protagonist, Travis Touchdown, can be considered an icon. An absurd otaku, Travis hacked and slashed his way through hundreds of enemies and assassins using just his dimwitted charm and a beam katana he won in an online auction. He's probably running low on money again, so maybe he can make some extra cash by participating in a few Smash Bros. tournaments.

While major details surrounding Super Smash Bros. for Wii U have been kept under wraps, people haven't forgotten about the game. Interest in the title remains alive among longtime Smash Bros. fans who continue to speculate on the game — on when it'll launch, what modes it will include, and most importantly, what characters will make it to the roster.
There are a number of first-party Nintendo characters that would make excellent additions to the Smash Bros. hall of fame, but a lot of the appeal in Brawl came from third-party fighters like Snake and Sonic the Hedgehog making their debuts. What third-party characters should Nintendo and Namco Bandai feature in the upcoming Wii U installment of Smash Bros?
Rayman (Rayman series)
The sheer charm of the Rayman series alone makes it a perfect fit on Nintendo consoles. But don't let the colorful look and pleasant demeanor of the titular Rayman fool you. This limbless hero's got a ton of offense up his sleeve … well, if he had sleeves. Rayman Origins proved that the adventuring protagonist had what it takes to provide a platforming experience that rivals that of the Mario franchise. This calls for a battle to decide platforming supremacy. Rayman vs. Mario! Or Rayman vs. anyone, really. I mean, it would be pretty fun grabbing Link and slapping him around a bit.
Pac-Man (Pac-Man series)
By teaming up with Namco Bandai, Nintendo's got a massive library of memorable characters to work with. Why not include one of the most iconic mascots in all of gaming? Pac-Man is one of the few characters that can actually rival Mario as far as the legacy of video games is concerned. By including the rotund fruit-munching hero in the upcoming Smash Bros., Nintendo and Namco Bandai would also be able to feature some cool Pac-Man-related items, stages, and assist trophies (Ms. Pac-Man, we're looking at you!).
Tails (Sonic the Hedgehog series)
Sonic the Hedgehog's inclusion in Smash Bros. Brawl was iconic because we were finally getting a game where Nintendo's portly plumber and Sega's blue blur were going to get the chance to duke it out. None of that Olympics crap! But what about Tails? He's as important to Sonic as Luigi is to Mario. Come to think of it, Tails vs. Luigi would be a grand battle of sidekicks. My money's on Tails, just because Luigi's kind of annoying.
Ryu (Street Fighter series)
A Nintendo vs. Capcom game seems like something that could be really cool. Both companies have a lengthy roster of memorable characters, and this is a crossover that's just begging to happen. For Smash Bros., though, I think a lot of people would be all, "WTF?!" if Ryu showed up as a hidden character. With his arsenal of punches, kicks, and projectiles, the Street Fighter star could certainly hold his own against Mario and company.
Sora (Kingdom Hearts series)
Square Enix and Disney have been turning out Kingdom Hearts games for a long time, and a lot of the entries in the franchise are well-received by gamers. Sora has become a popular character among RPG enthusiasts, and he's proven time and time again that he has what it takes to take on massive beasts and gangs of enemies. How would he fare in Smash Bros. competition? I'm certain he gets a bit restless on his days off, so he probably gets a hankering to smack someone upside the head with a giant key. Sora should totally let out all that aggression against some of Nintendo's top dogs.
