A few days ago, it was reported that Hollywood voice actors and game companies were reaching a breaking point when it came to pay increases for their work.
On one side were the game companies who wanted to maintain the status quo and the other side was the voice actors union wanting more of the lucrative video game profits. While the voice actors got a pay increase over time, they did not get everything they wanted, residuals for the games.
While the strike has been diffused for the time being, it looks as if the voice actors are still going to push the idea that they want the residuals. Game companies are not too happy with that because they don’t feel the actors put enough time and effort into the games.
With emotion still running high, it will take a while for both sides to cool down. We can only hope that both sides will work something out that will benefit each other and gamers.
