We’re playing Skyforge, the Phantasy Star Online-like MMO

Currently in open beta

If you were devastated that Phantasy Star Online 2 never made it to the West, at least not officially, then perhaps let Skyforge scratch that Phantasy-sized itch. Skyforge is the latest MMO from the folks over at Allods as well as Obsidian, putting you in the shoes of an immortal rising in the ranks to become a god. Sounds pretty cool right?

In this gameplay overview, I go through a lot of the basics to sort of get you up to speed on Skyforge, what it is, how it plays, how its various in-game mechanics work and even how its cash shop works.

In a lot of ways, Skyforge does mimic the Phantasy Star Online experience quite a bit. A bulk of the gameplay revolves around teleporting from the main hub where you'll see other real players, to instanced areas that you can either finish solo or with a group. However, there are open mission areas, like the one in the beginning of the video, which allow multiple people to complete quests across a bigger map.

I do showcase the game's free for all PVP mode, though I don't do very well. PVP is certainly not something I ever really partake in to begin with, but knowing that I'm in the minority here, I figured I'd show you guys how it looks and how it works. Seriously though, press the E button to win.

You can check out Skyforge for yourself now since the game is in Open Beta, and it also has a few Founder's Packs available which come with extra classes already unlocked.
