When Industry Sales Drop, Xbox Rises

The NPD Group’s recent sales release report that software sales for the industry decreased by 3% in the US in April, but after a price cut by Microsoft, sales of the Xbox console more than doubled.

The Xbox Price Drop to $149.99 from $179.99 led to a whopping 135% rise in sales! Analysts show that the biggest competitor, Sony’s PS2, is off to a slower boom after the same drop in price, but is expected to perform similarly in the near future.

This will no doubt encourage those who felt that Microsoft’s first console was losing steam, which in fact, is only beginning to have it’s potential tapped into.
