Which Destiny class is right for you?

When it comes to class-based games, picking the class that's right for you is often a daunting task. Do you go with the tank character that can withstand a ton of damage but not deal it? Or maybe the glass cannon that can eliminate an enemy with a single skill but be on the brink of death during every encounter?

Thankfully, Destiny's choices aren't that vast. The Titan, Warlock and Hunter all have traits that are shared across each character, such as being able to use any kind of weapon effectively, however, their subclasses make them vastly different from one another, and we're here to help you choose the perfect class for you.

Here are just the basic breakdowns of each class. To see the full breakdown of each character, make sure to click on the links provided.

Titan – The Melee Powerhouse

Like big ass armor? Like pounding people with your fists? Then I highly recommend playing the Titan class in Destiny. While the Warlock uses sissy space magic, the Titan is all about brute force and heavy armor. But despite this gung-ho approach to Destiny, there’s actually much more to the class depending on which subclass you prefer. And honestly, your subclass should be determined by the type of content you’re consuming and what you want to accomplish.

The Titan has two subclasses: Striker and Defender. You can pretty much guess the role each one fills; Striker is more about dealing damage, while Defender is more about soaking up damage and protecting your allies. In both instances, you’ll have the “Lift” movement ability; the key differences between the two are the types of grenades, your Super Ability, and your Melee Ability. And again, depending on what you’re doing in Destiny, you’ll want to be comfortable with both.

Warlock – The Arcane Blaster

In the most generic RPG sense, Destiny’s Warlock fits the ‘magic user’ trope. If Titan represents strength, Hunter dexterity, than the Warlock would be the intelligence equivalent. This trope often attaches burst damage over durability – this is the Warlock. Taking the roll of ‘glass cannon’ means you can dish it out but not take it. Equipped with ‘space magic’ observed from the traveler, the Warlock succeeds in adding a certain fantastic element to the already science fiction title.

Rocking a pretty sweet armband, Warlocks use bonds to distinguish one another. Sporting long coats and round helms, even their armor takes on the cloth appearance of their RPG-intelligence characters. Instead of primitive melee weapons like knives and fists, the Warlock uses it’s magic to shove, steal energies, or to simply burn those foolish enough to cross them.

Hunter – The Agile Assassin

The Hunter is an interesting class choice since it allows for two completely opposing styles of play. The Gunslinger allows for devastating damage from afar, while the Bladedancer is a force to be reckoned with up-close. While each class isn't tied down to a single weapon, I personally would like to think the Hunter's prefered weapon types would be the Hand Cannon and Sniper Rifle, one for up close damage, and the other for going the distance.

Hunters, as the Nomads of Destiny, are easily distinguishable by their cloaks. Their Agility stat is usually the highest, giving that class increased movement speed as well as a higher double jump. They also carry around a Hunting Knife which is their primary tool for melee damage.
