Wing Island Soars to North America

Konami has announced that it is bringing the already-announced Wing Island to Nintendo Wii. Check out the official press release from the company below.

Wing Island follows Junior, a young bird who loves to fly around his home island with his friend Puffin. Junior is tasked with taking over the family aviation business, while his grandpa is on vacation. Using his skills in the cockpit and calling upon is friends for help, Junior takes to the skies to fulfill the needs of the islanders.

Using an easy to learn control scheme, Wing Island lets players control Junior’s airplane by tilting, turning and twisting the Wii Remote. Allowing for incredibly precise flying, players will be able to fly through tight spaces and pull off advanced maneuvers such as loops and barrel rolls with ease. With his flight team, Junior can issue commands to the other pilots flying alongside him, ordering them into different formations that best suit each individual task across the game’s three modes of play.

Wing Island lets players control Junior and his flight team across the game’s Story Mode, Free Mode and Trial Mode, each with their own unique objectives and challenges. Story mode lets players try to run the family aviation business by taking on more than 25 unique missions from island residents. By completing different tasks such as putting out fires, airlifting cargo and dusting crops, Junior will earn money that will allow him to purchase and upgrade new aircraft. Players can replay individual missions in Free Mode, going for high scores or taking in the island’s breathtaking scenery in the game’s six different categories of aircraft. Two players can enjoy Wing Island together in Trial Mode, competing against each other in a variety of mini-games that test each pilot’s flight skills. Trial mode lets players use either the Wii Remote or Wii Nunchuk together for additional multiplayer flexibility while maintaining the game’s precise flight controls.

Wing Island will be flying to Wii in the spring of this year. Stay tuned for more on it as it happens.
