Well, if the Xbox 360 isn’t suddenly the prettiest girl at the RTS dance, then who is? Sierra today confirmed that it is bringing its upcoming World War III real-time strategy game World in Conflict, also available on PC, to the 360. World in Conflict joins a growing RTS roster for the 360 which includes already released LOTR: Battle for Middle-Earth II and last month’s Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars as well yet-to-be released strategy titles Halo Wars and Tom Clancy’s EndWar.
Set in an alternate 1989 amid a Cold War gone hot, World in Conflict differs from most traditional RTS games by emphasizing immediate action over tedious base building, resource management, and limiting tech trees. Sound intriguing? The PC version, like seemingly every other game these days, is set for release in September and is currently in closed beta. No date has been given for the 360 version.
