It was a relatively quiet month for Xbox One in July, and that doesn’t look to be changing in August either. Sure, there are a few third-party titles releasing — and they’re pretty big-named titles — but the good stuff, the exclusives, begin to arrive in September. In the meantime, there might be a few games in August worth picking up. Below is a list of Xbox One games releasing for August 2014. If I missed anything (you know some of those indie games are hard to keep track of), let me know in the comments below.
Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition – August 19, 2014
Diablo III has been available on Xbox 360 since September 2013, and on PC since way before that. So this isn’t really a “new” game by any means. That being said, if you haven’t yet played it on any other platform, then you may want to check out the Ultimate Evil Edition which includes the Reaper of Souls expansion, adding the new Crusader hero, an increased level cap, major improvements to the loot drop system, and an improved account-wide Paragon leveling system.
Madden NFL 15 – August 26, 2014
Another year, another Madden. With no NCAA game releasing this year, this is football fans only way to get their football simulator fix. The good news for those of you on the fence is that EA Sports has made some tremendous improvements to this year’s game, particularly on the defensive side of the ball.
Metro: Redux – August 26, 2014
Metro Redux is another one of those next-gen re-releases, featuring fully-remastered and improved versions of Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light. What’s cool about this re-release is that it’ll contain never-before-seen content and new gameplay features, while running at 60 frames per second. It will also offer two different gameplay modes that cater to your specific playstyle.
There’s not a whole lot coming to Xbox One this month, but you have to admit these are some good games. If you’re on the fence about any of them — trying to save those pennies for the huge fall slate of game releases — then check out my list of must-buy games for August.
None of these appeal to you? You may want to check out August’s Games with Gold for Xbox One.
