F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate – PC – Preview

E3 2007 Preview

F.E.A.R.: Perseus Mandate is the latest expansion
pack to the successful FPS, F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate is a standalone expansion,
meaning that gamers can pick it up and play even if they don’t own the original
F.E.A.R. The expansion will feature the same brand of frightening action and
chills that the series has been known for, as well as some new additions to the
formula.

Perseus Mandate is a story running parallel to
the events in the original F.E.A.R. and its first expansion, Extraction Point.
You play as a member of a separate team within the F.E.A.R. organization,
fighting against the Senator from the series and trying to defeat his
experimental soldiers gone awry.

Among the new elements in the game are the
Nightcrawlers, who are a group of heavily armored foot soliders that attack you
with machine guns with an interesting blue muzzle flash. They take a few more
hits than other soldiers to take down, but they can still move with a definite
amount of speed.

The expansion will feature a couple of new
weapons, as well. You’ll be able to usurp the Nightcrawler’s machine gun for
your own use, as well as a grenade launcher that shoots timed grenades. There is
also a new Lightning Gun that can mow down enemies with bolts of electricity,
although it wasn’t featured in the E3 version that was demoed.

Perseus Mandate looks to expand the F.E.A.R.
experience with new characters, new enemies, and some brand new weapons, making
it something that could tide over series fans while they wait for more info on
the proper sequel. Look for it Q4 2007.
