Wartime Command: Battle For 1939-1945 – PC – Preview

With
Wartime Command: Battle for Europe 1939-1945, Codemasters is looking to raise
the bar for realism in a WWII strategy game.  The game will do so by basing its
60 battles on actual events and battles of World War II played in 28 real
locations built with authentic topographical data and period aerial photography.

The
missions in Wartime Command will cover some real WWII battles in Europe, like
the invasions of Poland and France and the war on the Eastern front all the way
to the D-Day landings in 1944 and the fall of Germany in 1945.  You will have
control over troops and units from British, German, French and Soviet forces,
each with unique and authentic uniforms and weapons.  Each soldier has 36
personal and combat attributes that will develop throughout the game’s missions,
including emotional attachments that will develop between soldiers, making
ultimately for a more realistic experience.  The game will also feature a
realistic physics engine that allows players to destroy practically everything
in the game.

The
graphics were looking pretty good for an RTS.  The units were very accurately
detailed and well animated, and the environments showed a surprising amount of
detail.  Plus, the game has some pretty good-looking explosion effects.

Wartime
Command: Battle for Europe 1939-1945 is scheduled to at the end of this year.
